“The condition of plantar fascitiis in heel pain is a very common problem and we see more than 1,000 patients per year with this condition in our clinic. It’s becoming even more of a problem in the United States because of obesity being on the up swing as well. Also people that are exercising more are developing this condition. Most patients with plantar fascitiis and heel spur are able to be treated non-operatively, conservatively and 85% of them get better with just normal treatment. However, clearly 15% don’t get better and in the past we had to use surgery to afford them relief. We had to cut a portion of the plantar fasciia which is a large ligament in the bottom of the foot and then cut out a heel spur which is a big bony prominence under the heel. This was a very disabling operation that often took months to get better, came with a series of complications that sometimes were worst than the patient had initially. While utilizing the Orbasone, we have had a tremendous success rate with a majority of the patients relieved of their heel pain within 4- 6 weeks after treatment without any invasive techniques. Which means we don’t have to create any incisions in the foot. The patients are given the treatment and within a few weeks, their condition responds.”

“In my opinion, ESWT should be used as a bridge between conservative care and surgery. ESWT as a whole has been shown as an effective tool to treat plantar fasciitis. We have performed more than 2000 ESWT procedures on plantar fasciitis cases since January 2000, with more than 1500 of those cases utilizing the Orbasone from Orthometrix. While no one unit has been shown superior to any other, we have been very satisfied with our results.”
